nature of our road and for the monitoring of the children being supported
by the Egyam Orphanage in the surrounding communities.

Visits Dutch foundation members to Ghana
The Dutch foundation members frequently visit Ghana to check what has been done and also investigate what needs to be done and communicate directly to the director and staff. They also visit the poor communities around the orphanage to see how they can help especially the community children.

On October 2nd there was a sponsored walk on behalf of the orphanage. Friends of Egyam they call themselves and with many family members, friends and English students, they walked 20-30 km from Takoradi to Egyam (endpoint orphanage) to collect money to support the education of the children which is a major challenge.

| • Children of the orphanage were happy to have a bus, a donation from a Dutch family. |
The orphanage in Apowa was closed down by the Department of Social Welfare, because of abuses. The Department of Social Welfare asked the Egyam Orphanage Foundation Board if these children could be taken into the orphanage. A difficult question, because there were 22 children on top of 43! We decided to take them in. 11 of the children stayed and are doing well now, allthough the start was difficult because of the abuse background.
